This project is the work of ORW, Landscape Architects and Planners in White River Junction, Vermont. While there from 2008-2011, I had the opportunity to project manage the site development team and help design the features and components shown, including many of the smaller site details, stair systems and railings, and paving systems. Working with the team at ORW, including principles Bob White and Carolyn Radisch, and office staff Hillary Gregory, we created new campus connections to the historic Perry Hall building and addition, restored and designed by Goody Clancy Architects from Boston. The site and building received LEED Platinum Certification from the USGBC. Features include an advanced storm water collection system into a native planted gravel wetlands, native grasses and grass paving, high albedo paving surfaces and natural paving materials, native stone site walls, steps and viewing platforms, LED site lighting systems and pedestrian oriented design along with accessible site walks and paths to all parts of the site and site features. One of the most innovative features of the site paving is the use of pervious cast in place concrete which serves as both a rated fire lane access and a permeable surface where storm water can filter to rain gardens, vegetated swales and gravel wetlands.
