This project was a historic restoration of a 1810 farm structure. The structure has a stone foundation, a brick first floor structure and 3 levels of post and beam construction. All levels of post and beam were re-built. The exterior shell was completely re-aligned, reinforced and rebuilt/restored where needed. The entire interior has a completely new post and beam structure, with new floor layouts and was designed for 3 separate custom residential units. Two one level units and one 2 level unit occupying the top floors. The materials employed are a mix of traditional and contemporary components with all installations being to the highest standard of quality. The building received a new addition which houses the primary circulation stairs to each level. The building is a blend of contemporary design elements within a classic “Vermont Vernacular” tradition of hand made, custom crafts of stone and wood work.
